BHS "UNDER CONSTRUCTION" BUT
3RD WEEKEND IN SEPTEMBER IS STILL ON!
As you may recall, Brentwood voters passed a Prop B measure over a year ago which will result in many improvements to the Middle and High School campuses, including new safety features, new science labs, new commons/library space, and more. Construction began on June 1st and is moving full steam ahead. While this is exciting news for the school district and community, it will have an impact on our tradititonal 3rd Weekend Friday afternoon and evening activities.
THE COURTYARD IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR USE THIS YEAR and so the alumni Board of Directors has worked closely with Dr Brian Lane on an alternative location but keeping it at the school. STARTING AT 4 PM ON FRIDAY, 9/20/19, WE WILL BE ON THE TRACK AT THE NORTH END OF THE FOOTBALL FIELD NEAR THE MORITZ AVENUE GATE. Decade tables, sales of alumni items, school tours to look at the work in progress, and other typical reunion activities will take place until 7 pm, but do stay for the football game - EAGLES vs. Orchard Farm.
Construction has restricted some parking in front of the school, but there should be plenty on White, Moritz, other side streets and even McGrath Elementary School. You will be able to enter the track from White, the middle school, the front of the high school, or Moritz Avenue. Handicap access should be available from Moritz and the front of the high school.
Don't let a little dust and gravel stop you from coming back to good old BHS this September. We'll see you on the track!
BAA FOUNDERS HONORED
Back in the year 2000, two good friends were having lunch together. One was Marianne Hill Vahlkamp, Brentwood class of 1948; the other was Peggy Smith, a graduate of Clayton High School. However, Peggy also had a deep interest in BHS since she had lived in Brentwood a number of years and worked for the Brentwood School District at the high school. She also had 3 sons - Jim, '71, Bob '76 and Tom '77, a daughter - Jeanne '77 and three grandchildren who have graduated from BHS - Jenny 2005, Carrie 2007 and Kevin 2012. [Read more]
